Using it from your phone

The interface works on a phone. By default the server only answers on the computer itself (127.0.0.1), on purpose: it controls your console.

Docker installation

With Docker, the interface stays reserved to the computer that runs it. Access from a phone is only available with the installation from the source code on macOS, described below.

With the installation from the source code, ROMKADE Manager can publish the interface on a private https address through ngrok.

Once: set up ngrok

brew install ngrok
ngrok config add-authtoken <your ngrok token>

The token is on your ngrok dashboard, after creating a free account.

Each time

./run.sh --telephone

Terminal shows the address, a user name, a password and a QR code. Scan it with the phone and enter the credentials; the phone's browser can remember them.

  • ngrok asks for this user name and password before any request reaches the computer; ROMKADE Manager then asks you to sign in with your ROMKADE account, as on the computer.
  • The password is created on the first run and kept afterwards in the data folder (phone_password, readable only by you).
  • The server only accepts the ngrok address of the current run, in addition to the computer itself.
  • Ctrl+C stops the server and closes the access. Without --telephone, nothing is published.

Warning

Anyone with the address and the password can control your console. Do not share them, and stop the server when you no longer need the access.
